Kicking up dust...
This is a rather dull first News post to let you know that this site has just gone through a major revision.
Earlier this year, I rebuilt another site I operate from scratch. That other site, Gameroni, is all about video games. I've built a few game sites over the years, including previous incarnations of Gameroni itself, but I wanted to make a fresh attempt while incorporating the new things I've learned about what viewers are looking for from such sites.
Once I had the site just where I wanted it, and was ready to start filling it full of content, I ran out of money. I don't mean just money to pay talent. I mean money to pay my basic bills. You know the sort of things I'm talking about. Food. A roof over my head. Medical debts. So, I had to stop focusing on that site and start focusing on a day job, which I finally managed to secure most of a couple of months ago.
I learned a lot while building Gameroni, and added some cool new features. I decided I might as well bring them over to this site. It now displays more efficiently on both mobile devices (which somewhere north of 50% of web browsers are using to view the web) and on desktops (like I use).
With a fresh design now in place, I've uploaded records for each of my current books. And I've established a space where I can conveniently blog about writing and publishing and marketing and other such topics. I also moved my game-related stuff to a single Portfolio page, where editors who might be on the hunt for freelance talent can learn about what I offer. I would like to continue to write about games when possible, but this site needs to focus on fiction first.
The timing could be better, I'm sure, but not by a whole lot. I've just finished the Chronicles of an Amateur Reaper series, at least for now, and I'm pursuing other projects. I've wanted to launch a more updated version of the site for quite some time (the old design was built more than a decade ago), and now that task is mostly complete. I may continue to tweak here and there, but the bones are now in place. I hope you enjoy it!
